Now that I have left Carleton Place its fun to look back on the many aspects of the town that I remember from my almost 60 year association with the community. The changes that have occurred over those years have been amazing. Its no longer the sleepy little community that we grew up in!

Thinking of going to Carleton Place next Saturday for our 27th wedding anniversary.  It will be a full day trip, as I am an amateur photo buff.  I was looking for restaurants in town and came upon your site by foutune.  Wonderfully designed site that is easy to use.  The historical photo section was especially interesting.  P.S.  Looks like we will be dining Italian.

Really miss my ole home town and love looking at its history. Oh how it has grown since the days my grandfather Harold Hughes had his grocery store on Lake Avenue (his son and my dad Cam Hughes took over the store in the 70s) and his brother Lloyd Hughes had his grocery store on Moffatt Street. Haven't come across any old photographs of either in any archive. If anyone has any would love to see them.

App entry my family owned 100 acres at west end of lake ave. west. Anyone know anything about log home at 400 lake ave west? i will be visiting your town in the spring!

I love the layout of your website! This is a charming testimonial toward the fine heritage of this rather creative area, with which I am fairly familiar, having been a resident of carleton Place for over two decades. The heritage photos were jus great, and well presented. Thanks for taking the time to care. Ontario loves you!

Researching my father's family , his mother was born and raised on Glen Isle and my dad often talked about Carlton Place. Someday I hope to visit and research the Mcdougall's and wander the areas she and her family grew up. I love your web site and the photos,

My daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and other family members live in the area, so I have had the pleasure of visiting Carleton Place and Almonte. I must say it has purely been a pleasure to visit and enjoy all the history.
